1.   What can a Q7RF thermostat be used for?

-The wireless room thermostat COMPUTHERM Q7RF was specially developed for controlling heating and cooling systems. It is also suitable for controlling electrical and electronic devices, which can be switched on and off by removing and switching the power supply unit back on.

2.   How long will the battery last?

-The expected battery life with normal use is approximately 1.5-2 years.

3. Where should the transmitter and receiver units of the thermostat be placed?

-It is advisable to place the thermostat transmitter in a room with regular or long-term use so that it is in the direction of the natural movement of the room, but is not exposed to drafts or extreme heat (e.g. direct sunlight, refrigerator, Fireplace, etc.). Its optimal position is 1.5 m above the ground. The device can simply be snapped onto the base and can then be placed on any horizontal surface (e.g. table, shelf, chest of drawers) or even mounted on the wall thanks to the screw holes on the back.

-The receiver of the COMPUTHERM Q7RF thermostat should be installed near the boiler in a place protected from moisture and heat. When choosing the location of the receiver, also take into account that the propagation of radio waves is caused by heavy metal objects (e.g. boiler, buffer storage, etc.) or that metal structures can be adversely affected. If possible, we recommend installing the receiver at a distance of at least 1-2 m and at a height of 1.5-2 m from the boiler and other large metal structures in order to ensure interference-free radio communication. We recommend that you check the reliability of the radio connection at the selected location before installing the receiver. Do not install the receiver under the boiler cover or in the immediate vicinity of hot pipes or pumps, as this can damage the components and endanger the radio link (radio frequency). It is also recommended to supply the receiver with mains power from a different socket than the boiler (if possible from a different phase) and never to lead it from the boiler to the receiver. To avoid electric shock, have the receiver connected to a boiler!

4. How do I connect the product?

-The device must be installed / commissioned by a competent person! The device to be controlled must be connected to the 1-2 connection points on the rear of the receiver. For more information, see the product's instruction manual.

5. For which device is the Q7RF suitable for controlling?

-The wireless room thermostat COMPUTHERM Q7RF is suitable for controlling most boilers and air conditioning systems on the EU market. It can be easily connected to any gas boiler or air conditioning system with a two-wire room thermostat connection point, regardless of whether it is a 24 V or 230 V control circuit. It is also suitable for controlling electrical and electronic devices, which can be switched on and off by removing and switching the power supply unit back on.

6. Do you need 220V for the thermostat?

- It is not required to operate the thermostat transmitter, only 2 1.5 V alkaline batteries (type LR6; size AA) are required

However, the thermostat receiver works with 230 V mains voltage.

7. Can I use more than one Q7RF at the same time?

- Yes .

Each thermostat and the associated receiver have their own security code, which guarantees the safe and trouble-free operation of the devices. Each receiver only receives signals from a thermostat with the same security code. As a result, any number of devices can be used in close proximity to one another without causing problems with device communication.

8. What should I do if the receiver turns on but the voltage does not appear?

-The receiver of the device has potential-free (voltage-free) output connections, therefore the outputs do not show 230 V by default, but only close the two connected wires or disconnect the connection between them. If 230 V mains is to be output when the device is switched on, you must connect a mains phase cable to terminal 1 or 2 of the device according to the operating instructions. Before connecting, be sure to unplug the power cord and have it connected by a qualified person!

9. What is causing the wrong connection?

-This could be for several reasons. The most common causes are:

Use of an unsuitable battery (e.g. a dead battery or a non-alkaline battery)
Too great a distance or too many obstacles (e.g. more reinforced concrete slabs, more thick walls, etc.) between the transmitter and receiver unit
incorrect placement of the thermostat transmitter or receiver (details see above)
Use of other high-frequency devices (radio transmitters and wireless headphones) that are used nearby and that produce more power than normal
other external interference (e.g. high-performance antenna on the roof or nearby)

Using the COMPUTHERM Q2RF signal amplifier socket can solve some of the problems (e.g. too great a distance or too many obstacles between the transmitter and receiver).

10. How do the devices continue to work after the power failure?

When the power supply is restored, the receiver output is initially switched off. However, since the transmitter repeats its current switching command every 5 minutes, the heating / cooling system control returns to the previously set mode no later than 5 minutes after the power failure.

11. Can the thermostat be synchronized with several receivers at the same time?

​

-Yes sir. COMPUTHERM wireless thermostats can control several wireless devices at the same time, such as: Q1RX socket, Q3RF receiver, Q7RF receiver. To establish a link, the receivers must be placed in alignment mode and the SET and DAY buttons on the front of the Q7RF thermostat must be pressed until the LEDs on the receivers stop flashing.

12. What should I do if the thermostatic thermometer does not measure accurately?

- From the buttons on the front of the thermostat, briefly press the SET button once. Then press the DAY button briefly and immediately after holding the HOLD button. The display then shows CAL and you can use the +/- key to change the displayed temperature relative to the measured value.

13. What does  "LO" or "HI"  in the display instead of temperature?

​

-This means that the temperature measured by the device is outside the measuring range of the temperature sensor: LO is too low and HI is too high. This can occur when the device is in an extremely cold or hot environment when the temperature sensor is physically damaged.
